ZiZaBoNa Transmission Interconnector (Pandamatenga - Victoria Falls section)

Construction of the 76 km / 330 kV Pandamatenga to Victoria Falls section of the ZiZaBoNa transmission interconnector, i.e. Zimbabwe-Zambia-Botswana-Namibia. The construction of an interconnector aims to provide high power transmission to in order to relieve congestion on the SAPP grid supply power to the growing demand of Namibia.

DESCRIPTION

ZiZaBoNa creates a new Western Transmission Corridor in Southern Africa, by linking the power systems of Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia. This part of the project involves the construction of a 76 km / 330 kV transmission interconnector from Pandamatenga Substation (Botswana) to Victoria Falls Substation (Zimbabwe), with a transmission capacity of 300 MW.

Funding of approximately USD 34 million has been secured for Component A from the African Development Bank (AfDB). SAPP is mobilising resources for project funding for Component B and C and is having discussions with the AfDB in this regard
