Rehabilitation and creation of cross-border centres in multi-service logistics zones, as part of the development of the Trans-Maghrebin Corridor

The Border Logistics Zones will play a very important role in the socio-economic and sustainable development of the AMU member countries, and are part of its strategy for the creation of a Free Trade Area (FTACA) with the dismantling of all tariff and non-tariff barriers to international trade.The development and implementation of cross-border logistics centres is one of the key points for this objective and to promote and accelerate regional economic integration.

DESCRIPTION

The Border Logistics Zones will play a very important role in the socio-economic and sustainable development of the AMU member countries, and are part of its strategy for the creation of a Free Trade Area (FTACA) with the dismantling of all tariff and non-tariff barriers to international trade.

The project serves an existing infrastructure asset of another sector, but there is more than 50% overlap in the geography serviced by the proposed project and the other sector existing asset.

Reducing the number of stops in cross-border trade by combining the activities of border organizations from both countries in a single location; Have a standard OSBPs design for the UMA region, inspired by Maghreb and African culture; Contribute to socio-economic development and encourage trade; Reconciliation of border transit services in a single location (Health, Rocking Bridge, Chamber of Commerce, Veterinary Services, Firefighters, Warehouses, ... etc.) ; Increased use of ICT; Increase the effectiveness of cross-border controls through greater data sharing. Increased trade; Better inter-institutional and cross-border cooperation and information sharing; Simplified and harmonized procedures; Faster clearances and lower costs; Encouraging investment in the region; Encourage regional and continental tourism; Help achieve agenda 2063 goals.
