PROJECT FEATURED IN:

Angola-Namibia Transmission Interconnector (Angola section)

Construction of Namibia section of the 400 kV Angola-Namibia transmission interconnector. The interconnector is expected to link the electricity networks in the north-western part of Namibia and the southern part of Angola and initially supply power to towns in southern Angola mainly Xangongo, Cahama and Ondjiva. This transmission line will also make provision for the integration of the proposed Baynes Hydro Power Station into the NamPower and RNT electricity networks.

DESCRIPTION

The proposed interconnector involves the construction of power transmission lines from the proposed Baynes Hydropower Plant in Lower Kunene, Namibia, to link to the national power grid of Angola. While this leg of the project focuses on the section in Angola, it forms part of the broader project which is in Namibia.
